Connect with the Upper Sugar River Watershed by land and water as you cycle through the beautiful countryside, then paddle the Sugar River until you reach your destination near Paoli, WI. Transportation and a locally-sourced lunch is included!
All proceeds support the Upper Sugar River Watershed Association, a non-profit organization that provides leadership for continuous resource improvement through strategic partnerships that benefit the watershed’s land, water and people.
When: Sunday June 5, 2015 from 7:30am to 2:00pm
Where: Those using their own canoe/kayak check in at the Valley Road/Sugar River crossing south of Verona, WI (7401 Verona Rd., Verona, WI 53593). All participants will begin the event at Grundahl Park in Mt. Horeb, WI (400 Blue Mounds St., Mt. Horeb, WI 53572)
Cost: $40 for adults, $10 for children 12 & under

Chose between the Trail Route (14.4 miles) along the Military Ridge Trail, or the Hills Route (19.8 miles) which winds through the watershed along side the West Branch Sugar River. All participants will paddle a 4.6 mile route that takes 1-2 hours to complete depending on water level and ability.
Event Day Schedule:
– Check in time is from 7:30-8:30am at the Sugar River/Valley Road crossing where you will drop off your kayak or canoe with our volunteers.
– Drive north with your bicycle to Grundahl Park in Mt. Horeb where your choice of bicycle route begins.
– Arrive at the Sugar River/Valley Road crossing where you drop off your bike with volunteers, and paddle your kayak or canoe down the winding Sugar River for 4.6 miles.
– Finish your paddle and get shuttled back to Grundahl Park for music and lunch. Participants can pick up their bicycle and boat after their meal.
All participants are required to bring their own bicycle, and are welcome to bring their own canoe or kayak. USRWA will also offer rental boats for $40/each, which includes paddle, life jacket and free transportation of the boat.
